What is the VirtualHUD
The VirtualHUD is a revolutionary product that allows a pilot to have fantastic
situational awareness without taking their eyes off of where they are flying. It
uses a revolutionary new technology to project the flight instruments onto a virtual
surface created by a spinning propeller.
The current version of the VirtualHUD is able to project all the standard flight
instrumentation required for normal VFR and IFR navigation, in addition to extra
information like "Highway in the Sky" symbology and Engine Performance data.
This is made possible by including such sophisticated sensors as a GPS, digital
compass, air data sensors, as well as multiple acceleramotors and gyroscopic force
sensors.
Because the system uses lasers to project the Head Up Display, special care has been taken
to prevent the system from "lasing" anything beyond the virtual surface created
by the spinning propeller. This insures that other aircraft in the vicinity do not
get accidently blinded as they approach the VirtualHUD equipped aircraft.
